Quick Note
Just a few quick thoughts...
"Thanksgiving" dinner last night with Jim's family actually went pretty well. I still dont like the fuck doll, but by the end of dinner she was obviously miserable. Hopefully she will realize that she cant hack being part of the family and will remove herself
We have been having issues with a small amount of water seeping into the house and down the bedroom wall. (By small amount I mean enough to leave a small residue on the wall, but the streaks never hit the floor.) We figured it was probably the gutters - we havent ever cleaned them in the time we have been here. We borrowed the neighbors ladder. The stupid mesh gutter guard was still in place - and doing its job. We realized it was the downspout that was clogged. We got it cleaned out. Metal hangers should definitely be on the list of 'most useful household items' along with duct tape. Anything that duct tape cant fix, a metal hanger probably can!
After we finished with the gutters, I made a comment about being productive. Jim said that was all I could count on him doing for the day. I stuck my lower lip out and said he wouldnt even do me!?! He told me I was getting productive confused with REproductive! lol
Now if only the mountain of dishes would do themselves!

Credit Cards and Fraud
How can we possibly forget my rant from a few months ago about my Chase card?
Just a couple of minutes ago, I got a phone call from an 800 number. Usually I just let that stuff go to voice mail. For some reason, I decided to answer. It was a recording. Even more amazing I didnt hang up right away - I will often listen to a few words to see what it is about and make sure Im not forgetting about some appointment.
It was Chase asking if I had authorized a transaction for $1. Uh, no. I cut up those cards. (I still dont even know what company it was that it was attempted to be used with.)
I ended up talking to a live person - and it didnt even take long! She was really nice. She asked about the transaction. I explained that, no, I hadnt used it. I told her the last transaction we used it for - it was actually a couple weeks after I swore I wouldnt ever use the card again because Jim hadnt gotten rid of the card yet, so I specifically remembered it.
Turns out that in the last few days, there have been 3 charges (including the attempt today). One for a small amount. Another for $74.99. Again, places I had never heard of.
The woman I was talking to said she would close the account and open a new one. I told her not to bother opening the new one. (I checked online and the account is indeed already closed.)
I find it somewhat ironic that this comes just after reading the post from momaroo about ID theft.
So, I have to say that Chase is definitely doing something right in that department - the fraud was caught quickly and before my statement was even generated. (But I still dont want their credit card anymore.)
So, make sure you are checking all of your credit card and bank statements. No matter how anal you are about finances and such, someone can get ahold of your numbers. (And just another reason I am glad that I use credit cards instead of debit cards - I dont have to wait for a refund of my money!)

New Puppy Advice
A couple days a week, I babysit for a friend. (And Ty is currently walking around in my sneakers - pretty funny! I've been doing it for a couple of months now. There have never been any problems - until now.
A couple of weeks ago, they got a new puppy. I have only been over once since then (before today). That day Bella, the new puppy, was a bit hesitant at first but quickly warmed up t o me. She did end up in her crate for part of the day. They are working on house training her - but she was already crate trained. I had taken her outside a couple of times so she could potty, but she wouldnt. So that meant into the crate because she hadnt gone yet.
Today, when I arrived Tucker - the lab they have had for quite a while - greeted me at the door like he always does. He gets excited when people come over because he loves attention. Bella came over and greeted me also - but still a bit hesitant. She seemed completely fine though. Before Jen left, she asked Bella if she wanted to go in her crate. Of course Bella looked at Jen like 'are you stupid' and I said it was fine.
Well since Jen left, Bella and Tucker spent most of their time upstairs. That is common for Tucker so that he cant be tortured by Ty. Bella gets really excited when she hears any car doors or anything. Tucker pretty much knows the sound of Jen and Derek's cars - so that is the only time he gets excited. So Bella has been downstairs a few times - because of neighbors getting home and whatnot.
Each time Bella had been downstairs, she acted afraid of me. She wouldnt let me get within arms reach and she would growl at me if I was looking at her.
When I asked Ty if he wanted to use the potty, he of course ignored me. (They are working on potty training, so far he has had absolutely zero interest with me.) Tucker, gets excited when he hears 'potty' because he likes to go outside. So he came running down the stairs. Bella followed him. She still wouldnt let me get near her.
Finally when I was scratching Tucker's ears and giving him some attention, Bella came close. She was still very hesitant though. When I finally got the chance, I grabbed her harness. She tried to pull away and then just resisted me. Taking her outside to relieve herself was obviously not going to happen - so I pulled her back to her cage and put her in there. (Followed by walking back into the kitchen and stepping in the trail of pee that she left. Followed by cleaning it up.
) She has been barking pretty constantly ever since. There are some breaks in it - but I think she is begging to get out. (And really I cant blame her.)
I had asked the first time I met her if she had been abused. The place they got her from (I believe it was the ASPCA) said that she had pretty much always been at the shelter. They also said that she was 4 months old. The vet said she was probably 6-7 (based on her teeth). So she wasnt abused that we know of. But she definitely flinches if you move quickly and she doesnt trust me at all.
I dont want her to be stuck in her cage all day every time I am here to watch Ty. But I wont fight her every time I am here either. And I definitely will not deal with her growling at me all of the time.
Any suggestions?

To Thanksgiving And Beyond!!!
No, I havent watched too many Disney movies in my life. Why do you ask?
Thanksgiving has never really been a big deal for my family. I remember Thanksgivings when my parents were still married. We would wake up in the morning to watch parades. Dinner was a turkey with the fixings - but not really a big deal. It was always just the 5 of us - my parents, my sisters and me. So even now? Not really a big deal to me. Jim and I have this policy for all holidays (excluding Christmas) that we go to the house of whoever asks first. Inevitably, it is always my Dad and Step-mom. Thanksgiving is more of a big deal to her than it is to the rest of us. But free, delicious food? I will take that any day of the week!
On Wednesday, there had been tentative plans to go out with a bunch of people from Jim's work. (All people that we like and would actually want to hang out with.) One of the guys (Rabbit), turned 21 not long ago, but had the flu on his birthday. Whoever did the planning decided they wanted to go to Pheonixville. Not really a fan. Even less of a fan of the bar scene. We decided to pass. (Im pretty sure that Rabbit decided to pass to! lol.)
Instead, I sat at home on the couch and fucked off. Jim played video games and hung out with a couple of people who stopped by. I played facebook games (which is why I never should have gotten a facebook to begin with!) and worked on my trivets a bit. I also decided to open a bottle of wine. It is one of my favorites - a Cuvee from one of the wineries up near my sister's place in New York. I started with a glass... and then refilled it... and then refilled it again... until the bottle was gone. No worries though, Jim quite enjoyed the fact that I drank and entire bottle!!
Thursday morning I got up and started doing the few things that needed to get done. The dishes - because I had to return the sippy cup that had been forgotten at a restaurant. Clean out my car - so that there would be space for all of us and everything we bought when shopping! And for some reason, it turned into a cleaning mood. So I went with it. The kitchen sink got scrubbed (which RARELY happens). The kitchen floor got cleaned. Part of the bathroom got cleaned. I ordered new batteries for the little sweeper Mom had given to me for Christmas last year which I LOVE (I hate that Google Chrome doesnt give me the option for Italics in this!) But that was where it pretty much ended.
About 3, we headed out. The outlets are literally less than 5 minutes from my house. We headed over there to drop off my car. We pulled in and parked my car. Just as I was getting into my car, the security guy came over and said that we couldnt leave the car there. I asked why. He fed us some bullshit about it being first come, first serve for parking. I smiled and said 'I am first, Im here now!' I also asked about the other cars that were parked there. He claimed that some of them were employee cars and that the others had been there for a couple of days and would be towed before the night started. After another minute, when I was about to take my car home, he finally said that he would let us leave this once. Score one for being nice to people! (I still think that is the only reason he let us leave it there, because we were nice and I was going to move it.) Of course, I also knew that he was feeding us some bullshit. See, none of those could possibly have been employee cars. Employees arent allowed to park at the outlet center for Black Friday. They park about a mile away at a bus lot and are shuttled in. (I know employees who bitch about it!)
We got to my Dad's just about the time we said we would. Debbie, Tony, and James were already there. Dinner was cooking and everyone was happy. (Yes, I love my family!) Jenn, Chad, Buddy, and Jordan showed up a little bit later. (They do 2 Thanksgivings every year - one with Chad's family and one with ours.) Dinner was delicious and uneventful. (Who wants to come to Thanksgiving with me next year?)
After dinner, we hung out for a little bit and then Jim and I headed home. Debbie was going to come back with us instead of going home first, but Tony asked her to drive home. (He had had more to drink than he had planned. He is way more cautious about driving after drinking than most people. He is a paramedic, so not only does he respond to those accidents, but he would lose his job if he had a DUI.) So Jenn picked up Debbie on the way to my house and they got there about 11:30ish.
Jim had agreed to drop us off at the outlets. Bless that man! We thought about it a minute too late to take the local road rather than the highway. The traffic wasnt terrible getting off the highway, but Jim knew we could make better time taking the backroads into the outlets. We went down to the next exit and got off. The traffic coming from the other direction? Absurd! It was solid, hardly moving for at least 4 miles that I could see. (I found out this morning that it continued for easily another 6 miles, maybe more.) Thankfully, hardly anyone was on the roads we were taking. We were a bit pissed when we realized they had blocked the one back road, but it ended up not being that bad. Score one for being locals - everyone stayed in the left lane even though the right lane went all the way around to the outlets also! So it really didnt take us that long to get there. Jim dropped us off at the stoplight and didnt even have to go into the parking lot!
Just like we expected, there were some stores that were just ridiculous. Juicy Couture and Coach had lines at least 50 people long just to get into the store (and they had already been open 2 hours at that point!). Thankfully, we didnt even want to go into those ones! We hit up Maidenform and got a pair of lounge pants (for a gift for Jenn's babysitter), summer pj's (for my mom), and 2 bras (for Deb) all for $24. They had some bras that would have been $3.50 each - but they were backless ones and just fell right off of each of us. (If they would have fit me, I would have gotten extra for you, Ange since I know your bra size!)
We also went into the Gold Toe store and got Jim new socks. The ones from last year are still good, which is a miracle. That man can blow through socks like no one I know! So from now on, he will only ever get Gold Toe. And they really werent that badly priced. We got 12 pairs for Jim and 3 pairs for my sister for $24. Compared to the normal outlet price of $36? I will take it!
I think my most exciting moment of the night was when we walked into Gap. Two years ago for Christmas, I had gotten a pair of sweatpants from my step-sister. They are simply amazing! They are super comfortable and look nice enough that I can wear them in public and no one looks at me like I am crazy. Last year, we found more at the store - so I bought myself 2 more pairs. This year, they must have been trying to get rid of them because they had A TON (and they arent listed on the Gap website, otherwise I would have showed you the pants I was talking about.) I bought myself another pair - in a different color. And 2 pairs for my mother-in-law for Christmas. Hopefully they fit. (If not, then I already have a birthday gift for my sister! lol) She has been known to wear ratty old sweats out. She even showed up dressed like that at the bar my brother-in-law works at one day looking for him. (Did I mention that she does. not. wear bras? No one wants to see that!) So hopefully, she will start wearing these nicer sweats instead!
We went in a couple of other stores. My sisters found some good deals on baby clothes - although they didnt even try Children's Place because you couldnt move in the store! I also picked up a couple of things for my mom to give out as Christmas gifts. (She asked me to!)
We got back to my house about 4. I tried to pass out, but it just wasnt happening. There is something about crawling into bed after Jim has already been sleeping for a while that prevents me from sleeping. Perhaps it is the way he sprawls out when he can - and once he is already passed out there is really nothing you can do about it. Or perhaps it was because he wanted to cuddle and he was just HOT and it was too much for me. I didnt actually fall asleep until he got out of bed - after 5.
I got out of bed at 11 and called my sister. I had told her that I would watch James for a bit so that she could nap. Tony didnt have to work Thanksgiving night, but he had to work Friday night. So he needed to sleep during the day. Debbie and I were both grumpy - so I made her cry before I finally said that I would come over. I love that little boy. He is so cute and so much fun! Next year, though? We will have definite plans in place for all of that long before we actually go shopping!
Now it is back to regular life... work and such. Hopefully it wont be as windy tonight - it was a bit bitter last night!

Reminiscing
I stole this from Erin. I was thoroughly amused, so I figured I would do it myself.
1. Where/how did you meet: After I came back from Italy, I was living in an apartment. I needed more than just my on campus job to pay all of the bills, so I ended up finding a job working at a local bank. Jim worked there also. I usually (in the beginning) was scheduled at 4 and he would be there until 5:15. So he was one of the first people I got to know there.
2. How long have you known each other: Almost 5 years.
3. How long after you met did you start dating: Technically? About 5 months. But we started spending a lot of time together outside of work a bit before that.
4. How long did you date before you were engaged: 3 weeks shy of 2 years.
5. How long was your engagement: 3 weeks. We wanted to get married! (Everyone thought it was because I was pregnant. I think they have figured out they were wrong!)
6. How long have you been married: 2 and a half years.
7. What is your anniversary: June 1, 2007
8. How many people came to your wedding reception: The dinner afterwards? There was 18 of us. The reception a few months later? I dont even know. 35 or so?9. What kind of cake did you serve: We didnt, per se. The desserts at dinner that night were tiramisu and cheesecake. At the reception in September, Jim's Aunt brought her amazing pound cake.
10. Where was your wedding: Green Lane Park.
11. What did you serve for your meal: We went to Maggiano's. We ate, and ate, and ate! I dont even remember what all of the things we had were! At the 'reception' it was picnic food - hotdogs, hamburgers, chips, etc.
12. How many people were there in your bridal party: Just me and Jim!
13. Are you still friends with them all: I had better be!14. Did you or your spouse cry during the ceremony: I did a bit.
15. Most special moment of your wedding day: I think the moment I remember the most is when I first got to the park and was walking over to the pavilion. It was the first time I had seen his tux, and the first time he had seen my dress. I walked up to him and was about to kiss him. My friend Jacqi yelled "you cant kiss, you arent married yet!" So I lowered my head a bit and he kissed my forehead.
16. Any funny moments: Everyone met at the park - I had driven my mom's car. Jim had his Mustang. So after the ceremony, everyone drove themselves to dinner. It was pouring down rain by that time - thankfully we had missed most of that at the park! I was standing out front of the building waiting for Jim - because he dropped me off by the door. I was also watching for other people to show up. Someone walked past me and asked if I had just gotten married. I responded yes. Then after they walked away, I said aloud "the next person that asks, I am just going to say 'no, I wear this for fun'". There were 2 guys smoking not far from me and they just started dying of laughter. I didnt even realize anyone else was around. It was pretty amusing!
17. Any big disasters: Big? Not really - but there were plenty of small things. Both of my parents, Jacqi, and Jenny were all meeting me at my house so they could follow me to the park since no one knew where it was. (And I drove my mom's car.) Jenny showed up late. As we were leaving (and I was already annoyed because we were running late!), I was cursing to myself because turning left onto the road sucks - especially when 3 cars are supposed to be following you. I had pulled out a bit, but there ended up not being enough space (stupid trees blocking the view!). So I looked behind me and went to back up a bit. I had looked for my Dad's car, and there was plenty of space. Problem was that they had let Jacqi in front of them. So I ended up bumping into her. Thankfully, no damage to either car. There was one other incident, but that is detailed a bit farther down...
18. Where did you go on your honeymoon: I always say Europe. We went to Amsterdam and Germany for 2 weeks later that year. But it was planned before the wedding!
19. How long were you gone: 2 weeks
20. If you were to do your wedding over, what would you change: I would tell my sister Debbie to call out sick from work! I loved my wedding, but she still regrets not being able to make it.
21. What side of the bed do you sleep on: currently, the left side, but it changes sometimes.
22. What size is your bed: Queen
23. Greatest strength as a couple: The ability to laugh. We laugh at ourselves all of the time.
24. Greatest challenge as a couple: Dealing with family.
25. Who literally pays the bills: Me
26. What is your song: We really dont have one. But there is a song by Keith Anderson called Every Time I Hear Your Name that we both agreed when we first started dating reminded us of our relationship.
27. What did you dance your first dance to: As crazy as this sounds, we have never danced together. I have never seen Jim dance. Period.
28. Describe your wedding dress: Very simple. It had small embroidered flower details. It had a relatively high 'boat-type' neck with inch wide straps. I fell in love with it as soon as I put it on!
29. What kind of flowers did you have at your wedding: So here is the other disaster story. I hadnt gotten any. I didnt really care. Jacqi decided I needed flowers. So earlier that day, she stopped at a flower shop and asked them about a bouquet. At first they were confused about her getting it that day. They put together a really cute small bouquet. If I remember correctly, the flowers were purple and an salmon/orange color. Very pretty. When I went upstairs to get dressed, it got left out on the table. Thor did what he does best to flowers - shredded them! So I still had no flowers!
30. Are your wedding bands engraved? nope - good thing too because Jim is on his second one!
Thats all for now. I have amused myself enough!
